TeleCare Volunteer Job Description
Position: Volunteer TeleCare Phone Worker
Hours: Monday – Friday between the hours of 9am.- 11am.. A TeleCare volunteer can select the
day of the week they would like to make TeleCare calls as long as there is an opening on that day of the week.
Role: To help those who live alone, who are homebound, feel secure in their independence.
Responsibilities:
▫ Calling TeleCare clients and checking on their physical and emotional well being.
▫ If unable to reach a client, the volunteer will follow the TeleCare Protocols
taught to them in training.
▫ Volunteer will contact the Crisis line office if unable to make contact with a
client.
▫ Volunteer will contact the Crisis Line office if unable to make the TeleCare
calls to clients due to an emergency.
▫ Interact with clients, volunteers, and staff in a respectful and empowering
manner.
▫ Maintain client confidentiality within the parameters defined by Crisis Line.
▫ Provide Crisis intervention, support, and resource referrals as outlined by Crisis Line
agency policy and procedure.
▫ Attend monthly Crisis Line volunteer in-service meetings.
▫ Participate in other Crisis Line agency activities, events, and workshops as desired.
Qualifications:
▫ Must be 18 years old.
▫ Able to commit to one year of service.
▫ Able to schedule one day per week.
▫ Good oral and written communication skills.
Training Requirements:
▫ Complete the three (3) hour basic TeleCare training.
▫ Mentor with a senior TeleCare volunteer.
