E.C. Glass High School began in 1871 as a two room school house. As the community grew
the school grew and was named Lynchburg High School in 1911. In 1920, the schools name
was changed to E. C. Glass in honor of the school superintendent, Edward Christian Glass.
Today, its graduates have made history in Lynchburg and throughout the country. The 2008
ornament would make a great gift for students, faculty, or graduates.
Old 97 was known for being on time. On September 27, 1903, the conductor was running
behind schedule and pushed the engine faster than he had before. Old 97 ran off the

The McLean House is best known for its role near the end of the Civil War. On April 9,
1865, General Robert E. Lee surrendered to Lieutenant General Ulysses S. Grant in the

The Texas Inn, fondly known as the T-Room, has been a standout landmark of downtown
